Entities complete ’20-21 tax requests

Tax entities in Chase Çounty will seek $18.8 million in property taxes for their operations in the 2020-21 budget year.
    That compares to a request of $18.7 million for the 2019-20 budget year. This year’s request represents an increase of less than 1%.
    Those amounts do not include tax entities with multi-county requests, such as educational service units and community colleges or neighboring school districts whose boundaries extend into Chase County.
    Chase County Schools, the largest consumer of property taxes in the county, limited the increase in tax asking request to 1.65% this year or $121,212.
    Wauneta-Palisade Schools reduced their tax asking by 2.59% or a reduction of $92,256.
    Chase County commissioners increased their tax request by $79,792 or an increase of 2.44%.
    The Upper Republican Natural Resources District, which includes Chase, Perkins and Dundy counties, reduced their tax request by $31,563 or -1.65%.
    The NRD also reduced the occupation tax from the $10 per acre limit to $9 per acre for the 20-21 budget year.
    The City of Imperial’s general budget tax request increased $8,178 or 0.96%.
    Their tax request to pay outstanding bonds increased $21,755 or 6.34%.
