Enders Lake Rec Area still open for camping, hunting; restrooms limited

In an effort to prevent the potential for spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has temporarily closed park lodging across the state to the public for the month of April.

That doesn’t affect the cabins at Enders Lake Recreation Area (ELRA) since they are privately owned, but Park Supt. Beau Licking said some restrooms are closed and they are doing their best to wipe them down  on a daily basis.

The public shower facilities are closed through April at Enders and statewide. The park office at Enders is also temporarily closed, he said.

Primitive restrooms that are open at Enders include the one at the archery range in No Name Bay, as well as two by hookup sites 1-23 at the main entrance to ELRA, just off Highway 6 across from the golf course, he said.

All others are closed.

Hunting is still being allowed at all state recreational areas on public grounds, Licking noted. Turkey hunting is currently underway.
