Ekart named May Mentor of the Month

    TeamMates is happy to recognize Dona June Ekart as the “TeamMate of the Month.”  
    Dona June meets with Delaney for lunch once a week at Chase County Schools.
    During their 45 minutes together, they enjoy visiting, doing cooking projects, crafts and have even played a round or two of croquet when the weather allows.
    Dona June and Delaney were first matched when the program began at CCS in January 2015.
    When asked what she enjoys most about TeamMates, Dona June said she gets great joy watching her teammate grow and mature through the years.
    “She’s a really special girl,” she added.
    Dona June is a retired teacher, having taught for 42 years and substituted for an addition 15 years. All but three of those years of teaching were in Chase County.
    She and husband Jack have three children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Dona June noted that none of her children or grandchildren live around Imperial, making her time with Delaney in TeamMates even more meaningful.
    In her spare time, Dona June enjoys reading, gardening and needlework.
