Easter weekend cruise night another hit

Broadway in Imperial was packed again for cruise night Saturday.
In anticipation of Easter Sunday, the Imperial Rotary Club sponsored a vehicle decorating contest with an Easter theme.
Gift cards were awarded for correctly answering trivia questions.
First, second and third place decorated vehicles selected by judges for more prizes were:
Geoff and Jennifer Beemer, first; Marvin and Sharon Draper, second; and Juan Reyes and Iris Robles, third.
The gift cards—totaling more than $1,000—were purchased by Rotary.
Cruisers could pull over to a designated area in front of the theater to answer trivia questions. A correct answer out of three won them a gift card.
Further down the row at the movie theatre line was a free-will donation for popcorn.
A total of $855 was raised for the theatre.
Super Foods announced they would match the amount of donations, with the money to be given to the Imperial Food Pantry.
“That’s an amazing amount of goodwill donations for popcorn in two hours,” Super Foods co-owner Jill Moline said. “The theater keeps $855 and we will give the pantry $855.”
Morningstar Cafe also created another lane on Broadway where they were selling burritos by owner Cindy Castor’s home.
“We definitely didn’t make enough,” Castor’s daughter Makenna said. “We sold out in under 30 minutes.”
Morningstar will be back for this Saturday’s cruise with BBQ brisket sandwiches, chips and pops for sale.
Broadway Steakhouse also invited people in vehicles to pull up in front of their restaurant to pick up food orders. Two specials were offered that evening.
Other restaurants were also open along Broadway.
Cruise night will continue every Saturday in April, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
