Decorated trees sought for city display

After Champion’s Vision of Trees was cancelled last weekend due to COVID-19 concerns, city of Imperial officials came up with a way to engage those Christmas decorating desires.
A fun event to get area residents in the holiday spirit invites people to “Deck the Halls” with a decorated tree in the green space at the southwest area of the city office parking lot.
The display is open to anyone, but people must supply their own Christmas trees and decorations, said Community Development Director Tyler Pribbeno.
Electricity will be provided, as well, but those decorating must bring their own extension cords.
“The more trees that are part of the display, the more festive and impressive it will be,” he said.
City staff has already decorated some of the live trees in that space. Pribbeno is hoping for many more to be added.
Decorating can begin immediately, but decorators are asked to register with Pribbeno by calling or emailing him at 308-882-4368 or tylerp@imperial-ne.com, in order for them to know who decorated each tree.
City officials ask that trees be removed by Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021.
