Cupp wins division in Country Showdown

Morayah Cupp, a senior at Chase County Schools and member of the 9th St. Singers, won her division of the Country Showdown in McCook last week.
The Country Showdown long-standing music competition is sponsored by Coyote Country 105.3 radio in McCook.
Cupp auditioned for the contest by sending in a recorded copy of her song.
Winners of their divisions in the past would go on to sing in the Galaxy of Stars competition at the Nebraska State Fair. Galaxy of Stars will not be sponsoring it this year.
For the live show on July 22 at Norris Park in McCook, Cupp sang Wings of an Angel by Lauren Alaina.
Cupp competed in the Omega division, which is for ages 13-18. Fifteen competed in that division, with Cupp coming out on top.
As winner of her division, Cupp was presented with a trophy and a $300 check.
In addition to show choir and local singing events, Cupp has also sung at past state and national FFA conventions as a talent participant.
“It’s still fun to be up there and perform for people,” Cupp said. “I don’t do it as often as I used to because I kind of burnt myself out when I was little.”
