COVID-19 program brings in nearly $7 million locally

Total of 118 businesses received relief funds

    It’s a big number.
Close to $7 million was received by Imperial businesses from the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
“That’s a lot of money coming into our community,” said Tyler Pribbeno, Imperial’s Community Development Director.
“But, I knew there were a lot of businesses trying to take advantage of the PPP to keep their doors open and staff on,” he said.
Figures were released Monday by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
In the report, 118 Imperial businesses received a loan under the PPP to help them through the pandemic.
In all, $6,982,670.35 in PPP funds were funneled to those businesses in varying amounts.
Two local businesses received checks above the $1 million mark, according to the SBA.
Frenchman Valley Coop was listed among the businesses receiving funds from $2-5 million. Chase County Community Hospital was in the $1-2 million range.
