Community welcome to drive-in church service

Most area churches have had to cancel Sunday church services due to the COVID-19 threat.

“We as a church want to reach out to people but be responsible in playing our part, reducing any exposure among the population,” said Pastor Alex Gebert of Crossroads Wesleyan Church.

Some churches around the nation are effectively holding “drive-in” church services, said Pastor Gebert.

“We need to be innovative and do the same to reach out to the community,” he said.

Weather permitting, speakers, microphones and music instruments for praise and worship and the sharing of God’s word will be set up outside the church.

This will allow for people to attend the 10:30 a.m. church service together, but remain in their cars to maintain the safety of the suggested isolation, Pastor Gebert said.

“We will have a regular church service outside, together, but safely,” he said.

The service, starting at 10:30 a.m., will still be streamed live online, as well.

If there is a good response, drive-in services can continue as long as needed.

“We, as a church, have to reach out to people. It’s in our DNA as Christians to love others,” Pastor Gebert said.

Everyone is invited to attend.
