CCS welcomes new Curriculum-Assessment Coordinator, coach

April Lambert, her husband Adam, who is Chase County Schools (CCS) superintendent, and their five children, made Imperial their home in May.
Lambert has filled the position at CCS as the Curriculum and Assessment Coordinator for K-12.
She is also an academic instructional coach and head high school volleyball coach.
“As curriculum and assessment coordinator, I make sure all the teachers have the necessary materials needed to align themselves with Nebraska’s educational requirements. I also monitor teachers and materials as a way of keeping CCS classes and Nebraska in sync,” Lambert said.
As an instructional coach, Lambert said she works with the teachers to support them in achieving instructional goals for the classroom.
“I have a teacher contract, but basically, I work for the principals and support their vision for the school,” she said.
Lambert said it is great to be working with so many dedicated and hard-working teachers.
She likes the diverse range of experiences she gets with the academic side of the job plus coaching young women in volleyball, she said.
Lambert is originally from Kearney where she attended Kearney Catholic High School.
In 2005, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in English and Education K-12 with minors in Spanish and ELL, she said.
She then received her Masters in English from UNL in 2008, followed by an administrative endorsement in May 2020 from Wayne State College, she added.
“I’m a learner. I enjoy learning about anything,” Lambert said.
She has a heart for volunteering and helping people, and she wanted to help students be successful regardless of their background, she said.
“I was successful in school, and I felt I could help others achieve the same thing,” said Lambert.
This is the fourth school district in which Lambert and her husband have held positions together.
They have worked in different schools at the same time, but they like being in the same school.
“We like it because we are on the same schedule, and we enjoy being a part of the same community and sharing experiences,” she said.
Lambert’s children are Cadence, fifth grade; Cohen, third grade; Leah, first grade and 3-year-old twins Madelynn and Brynn.
Both Lamberts share musical talent and were heavily involved in music in high school and all through college, Lambert said.
They both play instruments and sing.
“We are also both big Husker fans. While I was attending UNL, I played trombone in the marching band for three years, appearing in a Rose Bowl,” she said.
“I really love watching Husker football and volleyball. I enjoy watching athletes and their strategies,” said Lambert.
She said she also loves to travel and see new things and other cultures.
She spent six weeks in Mexico for her Spanish class while in college.
“I want the children to always be a part of our travel experiences,” she said.
