Catfish tourney draws five teams to Enders

Five teams fished for cash prizes over eight hours Saturday in the fall catfish tournament sponsored by the Southwest Nebraska Izaak Walton League.
Enders Lake served as venue for the tournament, where two-person teams had to follow state Game & Parks regulations as they reeled in fish from boats or the bank. Cell phones were not allowed to convey fishing info, said Ike’s member/coordinator Tom Elder of Imperial.
Teams could submit five fish for weighing as the fishing concluded. Top three teams earned cash prizes determined by the entry fees.
    Winners were:
First place—James Mosely and Cody Crisler, Elwood, 19 lbs. Also had tournament’s largest fish at 5 lbs.
Second—Houston McConnell of Holyoke, Colo., and Shayna Perry, Greeley, Colo., 14 lbs.
Third—Brian Hattendorf, Imperial, and Jared Hattendorf, 10 lbs.
Looking ahead, Elder said Ike’s will probably discontinue the fall catfish tourneys, but will continue the spring competition.
