Cars line up for Memorial Day service

An abbreviated Memorial Day service was held Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery by VFW Post 4688 members. Most stayed in their cars for the service, which included the laying of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the solemn firing of rifles by the Honor Guard as “Taps” was played by Sasheena Shinn. Once the service ended, many cars honked in response. The cemetery was also dotted with family members before and after the ceremony, who placed flowers on graves or stood in silent remembrance.
