Tuesday, Nov. 4, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a Dundy County/Stratton Public School District bus was eastbound passing through Max, Ne.
As the bus went to turn off of Highway 34, an eastbound semitruck attempted to pass the bus, causing a collision. Both vehicles slid through the intersection and came to rest on the north side of the intersection off of the highway.
A DCS route bus came upon the scene immediately following the accident, so the driver and students sheltered on that bus until help arrived.
All students on the bus (along with the bus driver) were evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene before being released to parents. No injuries were sustained by individuals in the bus.
The Dundy County Sheriff’s Office, Benkelman Ambulance, Benkelman Fire Dept., and Sinners Towing of Benkelman all assissted at the scene.
