Blood drive to include COVID-19 antibody testing

The next American Red Cross blood drive in Imperial will be Tuesday, July 21, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
This drive will be held at the auxiliary gym at Chase County Schools (CCS) with senior Sadie Peterson coordinating the drive and Angie Paisley as blood program leader, said Cathy Carman, Account Manager II/Donor Recruitment, North Platte.
The collection goal is 78 units, Carman said.
Only donors feeling healthy and well should plan to donate, and appointments are strongly encouraged, according to the Red Cross.
Donating blood products is essential to community health, and eligible donors are encouraged to donate during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Blood donations are urgently needed this month.
There aren’t enough donors to meet the demands of patients and hospitals as they resume surgical procedures and treatments, according to Red Cross officials.
Only three out of 100 Americans donate blood, yet every two seconds someone needs it.
