Blood drive goes well in spite of COVID

The American Red Cross community blood drive was held last Friday at the city gym.
“There were 62 blood donors and 66 units of blood collected, just four shy of the 70-unit goal,” said Emma Jenkins, blood drive coordinator.
There were two new donors this time, both walk-ins, she said.
“Even though we still had walk-ins, more people made appointments than usual for this drive,” she added.
Additional safety measures were in place due to COVID-19.
