Blood drive goal Nov. 19 set at 84 units

    The American Red Cross is counting on the civic duty felt by many people as they went to the polls this week, and using that to help bring in blood drive donors.
    Chase County Schools will be the site for a blood drive Thursday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
    This time the goal is 84 units, said School Nurse Angie Paisley, who coordinates with the student team on drives at CCS.
    The student blood drive team includes Sadie Peterson, Halle Fielder, Kamrie Dillan, Kendra Burke, Morgan Peterson, Emmitt Zuege, Markenna Terryberry, Lucy Spady and Jesse Krausnick, with three more students to be added.  
    Donors will have an extra incentive to donate again this month. All donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies, with results available one to two weeks after.
    All donors will be required to wear a face covering or mask. Valve face masks are not permitted, according to Red Cross officials. Face shields can be worn in addition to face masks but not as a substitute.

    Red Cross officials say donations are critically needed to prevent a blood shortage and provide lifesaving blood for patients.
