Beef N’ Que take top honors at S.O.B.

    Eight teams competed for honors and prizes in the Smokin On Broadway (SOB) BBQ contest held at the Chase County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 28. About 250 people were served BBQ from the meat the contestants had prepared all day.
    The eight teams were; Cookin” With Smoke, from Hazard Ne.; Beef N’ Que,  Hastings Ne.; Grills Gone Wild, Champion Ne. (Kelsey Steinkraus and Clint Johnson); Smoke N’ Spice, Lamar Ne. (Wayne Bahler); Killin Grillin, Palmer Ne.; Grill Em All, Omaha Ne.; Bald Butts BBQ, Benkelman Ne. (Marc Brown); Great Plains Smoke, Ogallala Ne.
    Overall Grand Champion Honors went to Beef N’ Que of Hastings. The Reserve Champion Honors went to Great Plains Smoke of Ogallala.
    The top four competitors in each category, ribs, pork butt and brisket, received money.
    Top honors in ribs went to Cookin’ With Wood, Beef N’ Que second, Great Plains Smoke third and Bald Butts BBQ fourth.
    Pork Butt honors went to Great Plains Smoke first, Grills Gone Wild second, Cook’n With Wood third and Grill Em All fourth.
    Brisket champions were Beef N’ Que, Great Plains Smoke second, Killin Grillin BBQ third, and Smoke N Spice fourth.
