4-H/FFA events help fill fair’s void

In a non-COVID-19 world, this week would have been the full Chase County Fair. Despite its cancellation, a number of events are being held, organized by the 4-H Council, Extension and volunteers. One of the week’s first events was Sunday’s horse show, in which Navy Havel, top, earned a blue ribbon in barrels. On Monday, a 4-H/FFA poultry show took center stage in the show arena, where Matalie Wallin, below, competed in the showmanship division with this beauty. Rabbits also had their own small show Monday on the fairgrounds, as Allyssa Davis cuddles up to her entry. Meanwhile, the main walkway into the fairgrounds was strangely empty early this week, as fair sponsor flags blew in the wind. Other events this week are the 10 a.m. beef show Thursday, 2 p.m. auction Friday and Friday’s ranch rodeo in the arena starting at 5 p.m. See more on the ranch rodeo at https://www.imperialrepublican.com/sports/ranch-rodeo-will-provide-some-...
