‘Unplanned’ funds sent to women’s homes

Local churches banded together to bring the movie “Unplanned” to the Imperial Theatre May 1-2. More than 200 attended the two-night showing, resulting in profits of $175. Added to that was a private $200 donation, resulting in a $375 gift to St. Gianna’s Women’s Homes in Hastings. Parishioners from Imperial Zion Lutheran Church and St. Patrick Catholic Church shared concession/ticket duties for the movie, and both churches chose to send their funds to the women’s homes. St. Gianna’s, operated by Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, assists women and their families fleeing domestic violence or who are being coerced into having an abortion. Each family is provided a safe and secure environment as staff helps them to become self-sufficient and develop healthy relationships. Above, Bill Sullivan, director of St. Isidore’s Gift & Thrift in Imperial, presented the $375 check to Fr. Christopher Kubat, director of Catholic Social Services in the Lincoln Diocese.
