Ten teams turn out for annual catfish tourney

After a year off, the SW Nebraska Izaak Walton League’s catfish tournament was back on last weekend.
Ike’s member Tom Elder said 10 teams competed at Enders Lake in the organization’s 13th contest.
Teams of two could fish from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and turn in five catfish for weighing. The top three teams with the most pounds earned cash prizes.
Taking first with a total of 31.15 lbs. was the father-son team of Brian and Jared Hattendorf of North Platte.
Second place went to brothers James and Robert Mosely of Elwood with 26.07 lbs., while the team of Houston McConnell and Shayna Perry of Greeley, Colorado was close behind for third with 26.03 lbs.
The Hattendorfs also claimed the prize for the biggest fish reeled in, weighing 8.15 lbs.
A calcutta Friday night preceded the tournament.
