Slice Fore Life tourney full for Saturday benefit

Saturday’s Slice Fore Life golf tournament has a full slate of golfers in the annual Chase County Hospital Foundation fundraiser.
Enders Lake Golf Course is site for the 18-hole best ball tournament which has 16 four-person teams and seven two-person teams, said Shawn Jaeger, Foundation and marketing coordinator.
    Registration starts at 8 a.m. with tee-off at 9 a.m.
In addition to the cash awards to winning teams, golfers will also compete for 13 flag prizes. They’ll be served breakfast burritos in the morning along with hot dogs and other refreshments during the day, he said.
A silent auction is also part of the day’s events. Items are still being gathered for the silent auction, Jaeger said, on which both golfers and the public can bid. Golfers will be able to submit bids as they pass through the clubhouse during the day. Others who want to bid should do so by 3 p.m., he said.
Platinum, silver and bronze sponsorships are helping put on the tournament, Jaeger noted, from which funds raised will go to the Foundation’s General Fund.
“We will use the tournament proceeds as needed for physician recruitment, facility needs as they arise and equipment,” Jaeger said.
During the past year, Jaeger said the hospital has received $3.5 million in COVID relief CARES Act funding, which he called “a game changer” in the purchase of equipment and other needs.
He said those funds have given them more flexibility to focus on their priorities, with recruiting a family physician at the top.
“We do have some leads,” he said of their physician recruitment efforts.
They are working with recruiting firms in the effort to acquire a family physician for the hospital and clinics.
