Phillips County’s raceway season to open with triple-header April 16-18

Phillips County Raceway (PCR) at the fairgrounds in Holyoke, Colorado will kick the year off with a bang with a three-day season opener April 16-18.
For the opener, action will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16; 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17; and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18.
International Motor Contest Association racing will be featured throughout the season on what is boasted as the fastest 3/8-mile dirt track in Colorado.
Additionally, PCR will feature High Plains late models, Powri lightning sprints, ASCS sprint cars, CDC dwarfs and the fan favorite Colorado Vintage Oval Racers throughout the 2021 season.
Each race will feature a UTV race in which anyone with a side-by-side can join the fun. New this year will be mini mods for the kids.
Watch next week’s paper for an advertisement featuring the full season schedule, as well as opportunities for ticket discounts for opening day.
Following the three-day opener, PCR will host two Sunday afternoon races in May, starting at 3 p.m. on May 9 and 23. PCR promoter Joe Bellm said they’re working to bring wing sprint cars to the track for Mother’s Day on May 9, but that plan has not yet been solidified.
Action switches over to Friday nights with two races in June, two in July and one in August. Dates include June 4 and 18, celebration of America’s freedom with some fast racing and fireworks July 2, Phillips County Fair Race on July 23 and the track championship Aug. 20.
Bellm noted that PCR will also host the Tri-State Tour on April 16-18 and July 2 and the Colorado Alliance Tour on April 17-18 and July 2.
Blood Sweat and Tears Promotions is excited to announce the PCR lineup and has worked in conjunction with local area tracks to give racers the opportunity for a solid season to endure the growth of dirt track racing in the Tri-State area.
Bellm said they’ve worked hard to make schedules jive so they’re not running races on top of any other track in the area.
Area tracks include El Paso County Speedway in Calhan, I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, and Sherman County Raceway in Goodland, Kansas.
Bellm commended Ed Glennemeier, Matt Firme and Justin Bussell for their efforts on track work at PCR to prepare for the season.
“We at BST Promotions have been shedding a little blood, sweat and tears to bring the best dirt track racing to northeastern Colorado, and we look forward to another great year,” said Bellm.
Races at PCR will be open to fans and will be streamed online for viewers at home.
