Lady Broncos start season with three wins

The Wauneta-Palisade volleyball team started first-year Head Coach Katie Lawless off in style.
The Broncos won at home in their first game of the season Thursday, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.
Senior Alexa Sandman and sophomore Peyton Cox led the way for WP.
Sandman had eight aces and 10 kills. Defensively, Sandman had a team-high 30 service receptions.
Cox had 20 kills while hitting .366 and added 19 assists.
Junior Halle Bardsley added 15 assists and sophomore GraCee Goings tallied four aces.
The Broncos traveled to Cambridge Saturday to compete for the first time in the Cambridge Tournament.
In pool play, WP beat Rawlins County, Kansas 25-19, 25-22 and lost to Cambridge, 20-25, 13-25.
Norton, Kansas advanced from Pool B to take on WP in the third place match, which the Broncos won 25-22, 25-22.
Cambridge didn’t lose a set on the day and won the tournament with a sweep of Southwest.
Up next
WP will travel to Franklin Friday for a volleyball/football doubleheader.
Volleyball will begin at 4 p.m. CT and football at 7 p.m. CT.
Games will be streamed at www.fpsflyers.org/.
The Broncos will then be off until Sept. 9 when they host a triangular with two Kansas schools, Rawlins County and St. Francis.
The Hitchcock County Invite will be Sept. 11.
