Imperial peewee teams stay busy

Each of Imperial’s three peewee team played at least two games last week.
League games included matchups with Sutherland, Wallace, Paxton, Hershey and Grant.
Imperial 1 splits games
Imperial 1 had its work cut out for it June 2 against Sutherland in Imperial.
Sutherland opened the game with three runs in the first. Sutherland had the bases loaded until back-to-back outs ended the threat.
Imperial’s lead-off hitter Noah Rau came around to score in the bottom of the first inning, but Imperial left runners on first and third.
The visitors increased their lead with four runs in the second inning.
Runs by Parker Terryberry and Carter Kuenning cut into the deficit, but Imperial left the bases loaded.
The game stayed interesting in the third and fourth innings.
Imperial fought off Sutherland loading the bases in the third and fourth innings to hold  Sutherland scoreless.
Offensively, Imperial plated four runs in those innings to tie the game 7-7.
The final inning nearly got away from Imperial. Sutherland scored three runs and, once more, loaded the bases before Imperial got the third out.
With the top of the order starting the bottom of the fifth inning, Imperial went to work.
Rau scored before two Imperial outs. Needing to rally, Tucker Mollendor, Krayton Paisley and Miles Hanes scored to end the game in walk off fashion, 11-10.
Imperial 1 lost to Wallace 9-11 June 4 in Wallace.
Wallace held Imperial 1 scoreless in the first inning, leaving the Imperial team trailing 0-4.
Imperial 1 got rolling in the second inning. Hanes, Jackson Cyboron, Paisley and Harrison Foote scored in the inning. Imperial 1 had runners on second and third at its third out.
Wallace had an answer, scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Imperial 1 cut into the lead in the third inning, scoring runs by Kuenning, Cyboron and Paisley, before holding Wallace scoreless.
Runs by Terryberry and Kuenning further cut into the Wallace lead in the fourth inning.
Wallace responded with a run to keep Imperial 1’s deficit at two.
Imperial was unable to score in the final two innings of the loss.
Imperial 2 travels to tourney
Imperial 2 played seven games in seven days last week.
The group lost at Paxton 6-8 June 1 before falling to Wallace the next night 4-17.
Leadoff batter Lukas Fries opened scoring in the game after reaching base on a walk.
After holding Paxton scoreless in the bottom half of the first inning, James Bomba walked and came around to score.
Two singles and four stolen bases by Paxton left Imperial 2 trailing 2-3 heading into the third inning.
Imperial 2 went scoreless in its half of the inning and saw Paxton add three more runs to its total as its bats heated up.
Fries singled and stole three bases to score for Imperial 2 in the top of the fourth. Holding Paxton scoreless in the bottom of the inning left Imperial 2 trailing 3-6.
After going three up, three down, Imperial 2 allowed two runs to Paxton.
Imperial 2 tried to rally with three runs in the sixth,  but the home team pulled through to send Imperial home with a loss.
The team spent the weekend  at a wood bat tournament in Sidney, winning its first four games over Sox, Alliance, Sidney and Brush, Colorado before losing to Yuma, Colorado.
Imperial 3 falls to
Hershey, Grant
Imperial 3 lost at Hershey 0-22 June 2.
Hershey retired Imperial 3’s first seven batters. Jaxsen Villarreal, Max Bernard and Dylan Miscles loaded the bases in the third inning, but Imperial 3 wasn’t able bring any across home plate.
The team lost at home to Grant June 4.
Aaron Cervantes led off the bottom half of the first inning with a walk and came around to score Imperial 3’s only run in the game.
Bernard, Dietrich Pursley and Jason Trevizo loaded the bases in the first inning, but were left stranded.
Imperial 3 lost the game 1-31.
Up next
The season continues Wednesday.
Imperial 1 will travel to Hershey and Imperial 2 will go to Grant for games. First pitch for both games will be 6 p.m. MT.
Imperial 3 will host Ogallala 3 at 5:30 p.m. with Imperial.
Friday Grant will come to town to take on Imperial 1 with first pitch at 6 p.m.
Imperial 2 and 3 will travel to Ogallala.
Imperial 2 will face Ogallala 3 and Imperial 3 will battle Ogallala 2. Both games will begin at 6 p.m.
