Enders retains County Cup

The Enders Lake Golf Course Team edged out the Imperial Country Club Team in the 24th annual Chase County Cup held Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Enders Lake Golf Course.
Enders took a 13-11 overall edge in the competition and holds a three year winning streak. Imperial needed to win 12.5 points to take the cup, where-as Enders only needed 12 points to keep it.
Teams are made up of the top 12 golfers from each course’s league members. The golfers compete in twosomes for best ball and alternating shot, followed by a round of singles matches where all 12 members of each team compete in a singles head-to-head match.
In the best ball competition, Enders won four match’s to Imperial’s two. Imperial made a comeback in the alternate shot round, winning three matches and halving one. That left the points at 6.5-5.5 going into the singles matches.
That meant Imperial would have to win seven of the 12 singles matches to reclaim the cup. Enders was able to claim six of the 12 points, winning the cup with a slim margin, 12.5-11.5.
