Denker claims ELGC Men’s Club Open Tournament by one stroke over Burke

    Lee Denker shot a 69 to take the Mens’ Club Open Handicap Tournament played Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Enders Lake Golf Course.
    Denker shot rounds of 47 and 42 with a handicap of 20 strokes.
    Joel Burke took second place at one stroke back, after rounds of 41 and 39 with a 10 stroke handicap.
    Joe Humphrey finished third with a score of 71 and shot the tournament’s lowest round, a 36. Humphrey matched Burke with a 39 in the second round, but Humphrey had the lower handicap, four strokes.
    The top of the leader board was packed. Six golfers finished within four strokes of first place.
    The 18-hole tourney was open to members with an established USGA handicap.
    After two rounds of golf, scores were adjusted for the golfer’s course handicap.
    Results of the tournament follow with the top placings showing the 18-hole score minus the handicap for the net score.
