These cornhole boards will be auctioned off at the Zion Lutheran Church’s cornhole tournament Saturday.

Cornhole tournament, auction to raise funds for church’s addition

Playing cornhole has become quite popular, especially when it comes to fundraisers.
    A fundraiser on Saturday for Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial will feature a cornhole tournament, bake sale and silent auction.
    Members are raising money for an addition to the church.
    The day will begin at the Wellington gym, 10th and Wellington Streets, with registration at 12:30 p.m. People may also pre-register by calling Jan
Elliott at 308-882-0236. Cost is $20 per person.
    Cornhole bags will start flying at 1 p.m., with a silent auction from 1 to 3 p.m.
    A live auction begins at 3 p.m. for two sets of cornhole boards crafted by Randy Roesener.
    In addition, a cake created by Peggy Fitzke will be auctioned off.
    A bake sale will be offered during the festivities.
    Hot dogs and chips will be available for lunch.

    A cornhole tournament, sponsored by the Horns 27 baseball team (12 and under), was held last Sunday at the Imperial Golf Course to raise funds for Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for the two Imperial ball fields, as well as a youth wood bat baseball tournament in June.
    There were 15 adult teams of two and 10 youth teams.
    Winners in the youth division were Carson Terryberry and Camron Lempke, first; Brextin Moreno and James Bomba, second; and Lukas Fries and Braxton Chubb, third.
    Adult team winners were Aaron Troxell and Zack Miller, first; Ray and Douglas Wright, second; and Kerry Shinn and Billy Abey, third.
    Cale Holscher won the 50/50 drawing.
