CCS girls’ track takes Cambridge title with 224 points

You could look at the Chase County girls’ track team’s dominance at Saturday’s Don Stine Invite and think athletes and coaches were thrilled by their performances.
But Head Track Coach Troy Hauxwell said there were athletes disappointed with their results at the meet.
Hauxwell was not worried by the results, but likes the never-settle attitude and what that says about the team culture.
Chase County swept the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meters races.
Kamrie Dillan and Jordan Jablonski set PRs as they took first and second in the 100 meter dash.
Dillan also won the 200, while Bryn McNair won the 400 and 800 meters.
Lucy Spady placed second in the 1,600 meter run, finishing 0.05 behind Southern Valley’s Brianna Quinn. Ali McNair was third in the race.
Spady went on to win the 3,200 meter run.
Jerzee Milner won both hurdle races.
CCS swept all three relay races.
In the field events, Kaylie Lotspeich was first in the discus and second in the shot put, B. McNair won the high jump and Jablonski won the pole vault.
“Everyone contributed,” Hauxwell said.
Coming off a full week of practice, CCS varsity and JV athletes set 25 PRs and Hauxwell expects to continue to see jumps in performances.
The season will continue Saturday at Sutherland. Field events will start at 1 p.m. CT.
Also at the meet will be Brady and North Platte St. Pat’s.
With districts being held at Sutherland this year, Hauxwell is looking forward to his team learning the facilities.
Haxuwell believes the later start Saturday will also help his team prepare for the varying performance times at the state meet.
The Longhorns will be at home Tuesday for the Chase County Invite. Field events will begin at 9 a.m. MT.
After its home meet, CCS has the Hershey Invite, SPVA Conference meet and the Dundy County-Stratton Twilight left as regular meets, plus the Best of the Midwest, before districts May 13. Two JV meets also remain on the schedule.
Hauxwell said coaches have been encouraging athletes to focus on practicing to prepare for where they want to be at the end of the season.
