Thirty-four to walk stage at Chase County Schools commencement

Thirty-four members of the Class of 2021 at Chase County Schools will be in the spotlight Saturday during commencement exercises in the Longhorn gym.
The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. as the CCS band plays “Fanfare and Processional.”
CCS Guidance Counselor Trent Herbert gave his thoughts on how he’ll remember the soon-to-be graduates.
“As far as thoughts on this graduating class, I would say as a group they have a good grasp of who they are, what is important to them and are going to follow their own path,” he said.
At Saturday’s ceremony, an opening message from senior Morayah Cupp will be given followed by a welcome from 7-12 Principal Mike Sorensen.
Valedictorian Alexis Richmond and Salutatorian Charles Barnes will then address their classmates and the attendees.
Music from the CCS high school choir and the class video presentation will follow.
Presenting the diplomas will be board of education members Karl Meeske and Jeff Olsen. Meeske has a daughter among the ‘21 graduates.
Brandon Mintling, class vice-president, will give the closing.
The class chose colors of back, white and gold. The white rose is the class flower.
With an average of 27.8 on the ACT (tallied from the top five scores in the class), CCS tied for second overall with Bridgeport in the SPVA Conference, Herbert said.
Herbert said the top five ACT scores in the class sent in for the SPVA ranking were from Richmond, Barnes, Hope Brosius, Mercedes Peterson and Courtney Odens.
Richmond and Barnes were among the top 11 medalists for ACT scores in the conference.
