Teammates celebrate another successful year

    Mentors, mentees and their families from the Chase County Teammates mentoring Program gathered Tuesday April 29 at CCS, for the end-of-school-year celebration.
    Nearly 125 people enjoyed food and desserts provided by the Teammates Board of Directors. Five graduating seniors were recognized and presented with a Teammate medal by their mentors. The graduates will wear their medals with their graduation gowns. 2025 graduates include, Olivia S., Hope R., Addisen L., Shelby S. and Landree M.
    Four of the seniors were also presented with local and national level scholarships. Earning $1000 local scholarships,were Addisen L. and Shelby S. Landree M. and Hope R. earned $500 scholarships. Addisen L. was also presented with a $2000 National Office scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
    Nearly half of the 76 current matches were recognized for meeting 24 times during the school year. Teammates data shows the greatest impact is made when matches meet a minimum of 24 times a each year. Movie passes were given to those meeting the 24-week goal. Mentor Carolyn L. and mentee Lilli B. were recognized for meeting 31 times this year.
    The Imperial Pool swim passes were drawn for, with Riley F. and Deb H. (Avery B.) winning the passes.
    Representatives with Pinnacle Bank and the Imperial Community Foundation Fund were recognized for their financial support throughout the year through their support of the Chase County Challenge during Smokin’ on Broadway. Program Coordinator Sheila Stromberger also recognized and thanked the Chase County School Board of Education, administration team, custodial staff and front office staff for their help and support for the program throughout the year.
    Teammates board president Chris Lee also asked those in attendance to help him thank program coordinator Sheila Stromberger for her tireless efforts to keep the local program one of the best in the Western Region.
There are currently 76 active matches at Chase County Schools, with six boys waiting to be matched with a mentor. Matches were encouraged by Stromberger to think of possible male mentors who could be matched with those on the waiting list.
    The evening ended with a fun trivia exercise that doubled as a refresher training for the mentors in attendance.
    Chase County TM board members include Chris Lee, President; Tanna Hanna, Vice President; Jill Mays, Secretary; Carrie Terryberry, Treasurer; Pat McNair, Ashley Holscher and Mary Wilson.
