Free throw contest sends nine youths to next level

    Nine youths who were accurate on their free throws advanced to the next level of competition in the Knights of Columbus free throw shooting contest.
    They were among 30 youngsters age 9-14 at Saturday’s contest sponsored by the Imperial Knights of Columbus and held at the CCS auxiliary gym.
    Youths were divided into boys’ and girls’ divisions and by age as they shot 15 free throws. If there were ties, the youths shot another five from the line.
    All participants received certificates. The first place winners also received medals, and have advanced to the district contest in Wauneta Saturday, Feb. 20.
    Here are the age division winners with their number of made free throws:
    Girls division—Age 9 Mylah Aeby, 8; age 10 Mia Fries, 9; age 11 Paige Owens, 8; age 12 Hayley Rusher, 5; age 13 Karlie Anderson, 8; no age 14.

    Boys’ division—Age 9 Knox Paisley, 11; age 10 Zak Anderson, 13; no age 11; age 12 Lukas Fries, 9; age 13 Haven Hauxwell, 11; no age 14.
