CCS senior places at McCook show; teams in paint-in

Despite some weather closures Friday, 16 teams of high school artists competed in the annual McCook Community College (MCC) paint-in competition at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
    In addition, winners from the MCC high school art show were also announced, one of which included a CCS senior.
    Charles Barnes placed second in the painting division with his oil painting titled “Dog.” He came home with a silver medal.
    Several pieces of Zuege’s upper level art students were entered in the show and contest.
    Sixteen CCS seniors making  up three teams competed in the day’s paint-in contest. They included Ashlie Benge, Sydney Schilke, Jesus Perez, Cedric Maxwell, Mason Nordhausen, Chase Rowley, Chloe Soltis, Lindsey Mendenhall, Kambree Meeske, Charles Barnes, Heather Stumpff, Valerie Dietz, Kora Weiss, Hope Brosius, Ryley Vrbas and Dai Medina
    A team from Maywood received first place in the competition. A Wallace team was second, Medicine Valley third and McCook received honorable mention.
    MCC graduate Danley Walkington judged this year’s paint-in competition with the theme “Hieroglyphics in the Modern Age.”    
    Macey Johnson from Lexington High School was named Best of Show for her drawing titled “TTrahrah.”
    More than 200 pieces were entered in this exhibition.
