Waypoint Bank’s history began over a century ago

The Chamber of Commerce has selected Waypoint Bank in Imperial as May’s Business of the Month.
The staff is made up of four full-time employees and one part-time.
Chris Lee is branch manager at Waypoint with Harmaleigh Dubas as assistant vice-president.
Cathy Belau is a personal banker/loan clerk along with Amanda Chubb as a personal banker/teller.
Erica Gonzalez is a part time teller.
Waypoint Bank, though previously known under other names, has had a presence in the Imperial community for over a century.
“We’re a small team but an excellent team,” Lee said.
The bank offers services in checking, savings and CDs on the deposit side; commercial, ag and consumer loans; online banking with the mobile app and a drive-up window—which was very handy over the last year during the pandemic, said Lee.
Waypoint Bank’s history began as First State Bank in the Village of Enders in 1917, as part of the Cozad community Nebraska ownership group.
In 2007, FSB added a branch in Imperial, and in 2008, changed its name to the First Bank & Trust Company.
FB&T celebrated a 100 year history of service in the county in 2017 representing the 1917 Nebraska Dept. of Banking charter.
Also in 2017, FB&T changed its name to Waypoint Bank.
The rebranding brought its name to Imperial and six other locations including five Nebraska branches and two Colorado branches.
Monday through Friday, lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the drive-up.
“We urge people to stop in and see what we’re all about,” Lee said.
