If you tried to find parking downtown on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday afternoon last week, it was nearly impossible. Shari’s decided to close up shop and the Rau family, who own the Butlers Pantry at 1411 Broadway, purchased the building, which came full of knick knacks for sale.
Stephanie Rau decided to have a sidewalk sale, Wednesday-Friday at the 505 Broadway sight, which turned out to be a huge success. The store was packed all three afternoons with patrons filling bag after bag with merchandise.
Once they get the store cleaned out and do some renovations inside, the plan is to move the Butlers Pantry into the store at 505 Broadway.
The Butlers Pantry has been open at 1411 Broadway since December of 2023. The store was inspired by son Nathanael’s dream. He was looking for a workplace with a flexible schedule that would accommodate his social nature.
The shop features all things that deal with cooking and kitchens. Also, for every product that you buy, Bella Tunno donates one meal to a hungry child, through a partnership with Feeding America.
Stephanie said she wasn’t sure when the store will move, because their lives are very busy right now with harvest, college visits and high school sports. She said they will keep the public informed as soon as they have a firm date.
