WCNDD board holds annual meeting

Imperial’s Jason Tuller serves as board chairman

    West Central Nebraska Development District, Inc. (WCNDD) held its annual meeting in Ogallala June 19.
    Newly elected to the Governing Board were Lincoln Co. Commissioner Bill J. Henry and Holbrook Village Clerk Darla Halstead. Re-elected were Mike Aldridge, Benkelman; Vice-Chairman Doug Schultz, Curtis; and Mary Pierce, representing Mid-Plains Community College.
    Others on the board include Chairman Jason Tuller, Imperial; Secretary/Treasurer Bob Sestak, Adams Bank and Trust; and Michael Tuttle, Keith County Area Development.
    The board meets the third Wednesday each month and is responsible for WCNDD policies and oversight of funds. Membership is comprised of representatives from municipal units of government and private entities, as required by the Economic Development Administration.
    Imperial is a WCNDD member, and among other services, contracts with them for nuisance code enforcement.
    The annual meeting hosted 39 members and visitors across the 18-county-wide district.
    Nebraska 44th District Stat Sen. Dan Hughes of Venango delivered the evening’s keynote address. He spoke of relevant goings-on from the 2019 legislative session and what to expect in 2020.
    In thanks for being the keynote speaker, WCNDD donated the book “Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story,” by Wilfred M. McClay, to the Goodall City Public Library on Sen. Hughes’ behalf.
    Two retiring board members were recognized for their years of service: Richard Colson of Paxton and Kandra Kinne of Cambridge.
    Ogallala’s Driftwood was recognized as the Project of the Year, and Keith County Clerk Sandy Olson was recognized as the Clerk of the Year.
