Two field days set for next week

    Farmers will want to attend a pair of field days scheduled for next week.
    On Wednesday, June 19, the UNL Henry J. Stumpf International Wheat Center in Grant will hold their wheat and pea field day.
    Free registration begins at 8 a.m. followed by winter wheat plot tours from 8:30-10 a.m.
    A tour of irrigated plots of field peas and chickpeas will follow.
    The pulse crops tour will run from 10:30-noon.
    Following lunch, the event moves inside with discussion topics on wheat and pulse crops.
    Organizers ask people to register by June 17 to obtain a count for the provided lunch. Call 308-352-4340 or by emailing sstepanovic@unl.edu.
Luhrs field day Thursday
    On Thursday, June 20, Luhrs Certified Seed will hold their annual wheat field day and plot tour.
    The Syngenta Agri-Pro wheat test plot tour will begin at 10 a.m.
    The event is located 1/8th mile north of Enders and 1/8th mile west of Highway 6/61.
    A tour of the seed company’s processing plant will follow, along with lunch.
    Researchers will also discuss some of the latest trends and management practices for achieving the highest wheat yields.
