SWNE Spring Fling continues to grow

The first day of spring is almost here, and the Southwest Nebraska Crafters and Entrepreneurs (SWNE) Spring Fling event will help usher it in.
The event will be held this Saturday at the Imperial city gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Our crafters/distributors put time, money, effort and ‘heart’ into what we do. We do it because we love it....,” reads their online site.
There will be handmade crafts, baked goods, essential oils, jewelry, metal works, wood crafts, jams and jellies, crocheted items, re-purposed items and much more.
“So far, 10 SWNE members and 12 non-member entrepreneurs have signed up for a booth Saturday,” said Gayla Mayden, SWNE member and organizer.
Of the 12 non-member booths, eight are first-timers, she added.
The vendors displaying merchandise represent several communities in Nebraska and Colorado.
Each year the event gets a little bigger and provides the surrounding area with an array of items to buy.
Latté Da Specialty Drinks and Coffee will be stationed in their truck outside of the gym selling a variety of hot and cold specialty drinks and coffee.
The food truck will also be selling lunch items that day, weather permitting, said Arlys Cupp, owner.
“Funds collected from vendors for the rental of their space go back into the community to sponsor charitable needs,” said Mayden.

The next SWNE event will be the “Summer Sellabration” the end of June on the courthouse lawn.
