Private pesticide, chemigation trainings coming to area counties

    Producers in Chase, Perkins and Dundy counties will be able to attend private pesticide trainings in the coming months.
Private pesticide training
    Plan to attend one of the training sessions if your license is expiring or if you need to go to initial training.
    There is a $40 training cost for initial or renewal pesticide certification.
    Producers should bring a copy of the letter sent by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture if you are renewing your certification. If you received no letter, forms will be available to renew or certify for the first time.
    Following the certification meeting or the completion of the self-study course ($60), the information is sent to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture that the pesticide training was completed.
    To become licensed,  producers will receive a billing statement from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for their license fee. The cost for a three-year private applicator license is $25. After the NDA receives payment the license will be issued.

Chemigation training
    If chemigation certificates have expired, producers will need to attend a training session and pass a written exam to become recertified. Requirements for initial and recertification are the same.
    Registration for chemigation training is encouraged, but not required. Landowners may preregister by contacting the Extension Office at which they plan to take their training.
    Those who preregister can request a copy of the training manual and calibration workbook to review prior to the training session. On the day of the training session, attendees should bring their chemigation training manual, calibration workbook, No. 2 pencil and a calculator along to use during the training.
    If you do not preregister, you will receive a new copy of the training materials the day of the training.
    Training and testing will take approximately 2.5-3.5 hours. There is no charge for the chemigation training or the manuals.

    These dates/locations listed with this story are for both private pesticide training and chemigation training. Chemigation training will take place at 9:30 a.m. at all dates and locations. Private Pesticide Training will take place at 1:30 p.m. at all dates and locations.
