Perfect day for Summer Sell-A-Bration

Saturday was the annual “Summer Sell-A-Bration” for the Southwest Nebraska Entrepreneurs (SWNE) home-based businesses and crafters who exhibited their wares on the courthouse lawn. Nineteen vendors set up booths, grateful for the shade of the trees on a very warm day. Gayla Mayden, SWNE member, said everyone was pleased with this year’s crowd. There was a steady stream of people browsing through the booths until 1:30 p.m., she said. As usual, there was a variety of items for sale from handmade crafts to home business items. Makenna Castor of Morningstar Cafe was also on site with breakfast burritos and sandwiches in the morning and handheld lunch burritos around the noon hour. Laughter and friendly conversation were the norm as dozens of people strolled among the tented booths, visiting with friends and neighbors. The next SWNE event will be the Christmas festival in November.
