New rental properties in Cornerstone completed

    Dana Point Development has recently completed five more home rentals along East 3rd Street in Cornerstone. The new housing is called Heather Estates II, said Kara Nickel, property manager with Cypress Property Management in Lincoln.
    Of the five homes, one market rate home and one income restricted home have been rented. The three remaining rentals are all income restricted, meaning qualification is arrived at by number of people in the family and total household income, said Nickel.
    This result must fit within the established guidelines set up by the low income housing tax credit program, she added.
    All five of the homes have three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a two-car attached garage and unfinished basement, she added.
    “Our goal is to help get people into quality, affordable housing,” said Nickel.
    The business venture to bring more housing to Imperial began in summer 2014, she explained.
    Matt Thomas, founder and president of Dana Point Development Corporation, secured the land and funding to begin construction of 10 homes on East 2nd Street called Heather Estates I.
