New Chamber of Commerce president on board for 2021

A new Imperial Chamber of Commerce president has taken the helm.
Eric Haider has accepted the position as 2021 president.
“I am looking forward to an exciting year full of fun activities and progress for Imperial businesses and the community,” Haider said.
Jack Schnieder, as outgoing Chamber president, had some comments to share.
“This was a tough year (2020) for the Imperial Chamber of Commerce. It started out with great expectations for a year filled with activities and events,” Schnieder said.
As with all of the country dealing with COVID-19, most of the Chamber’s plans were put on hold or cancelled by mid-April, he said.
Schnieder believes the future is optimistic and the town will be able to get back on track as a business community.
“In my opinion, there is nothing better than living in a progressive small town. I’m looking forward to a fun year with, again, great expectations,” he said.
Haider said he thought the Chamber had a wonderful year despite the COVID restrictions.
“Our goal for 2021 is to build on last year’s accomplishments and continue on our progress supporting our community and local businesses while promoting growth,” Haider said.
In addition to a continuation of old traditions, Haider said the Chamber wants to bring some new ideas, explore innovative models and have programs to enhance the quality of life and the quality of Imperial businesses.
“We want to invite different educational programs into the community to help local businesses learn new trends,” he said.
Chamber members plan to work together, learning from each other, to help businesses large and small, he added.
Some goals are to routinely spotlight local businesses and increase membership and attendance to meetings.
“No question about it, we will have some challenges due to COVID, but we will come up with some creative ideas to continue our progress and to accomplish our goals,” Haider said.
