NE Extension Farm Management Competition challenges producers

Do you think you know how to manage a farm best? Want to put that statement to the test?
The West Central Research and Extension Center (WCREC) in North Platte is giving farmers the chance to do just that with a field competition for managing corn under center pivot irrigation.
The competition begins in mid-March and runs to January 2018. Participants will be making farm management decisions representing a 120-acre field.
Participants will have control over six parameters including irrigation management, nitrogen management, hybrid selection, population density, grain marketing and insurance selection.
The Upper Republican NRD (URNRD) is looking for a participant to nominate for the competition. The areas evaluated are: most economically profitable, highest input use efficiency and highest grain yield.
There is a cash prize for receiving the highest score in each category and a grand prize of $1,000 minimum.
Producers who would like more information can contact the URNRD by March 1 at 308-882-5173 or urnrd@urnrd.org.
