MorningStar Café opens at new location this week

MorningStar Café is now open at its new location at 140 E. 12th Street in Imperial.
Cafe owners Cindy and Jeff Castor were at their location in the Imperial Sale Barn for almost four years.
While at the sale barn, breakfast and brunch were on their menu, with hours from 6 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with expanding lunches during sale days.
Castor said they had outgrown the location at the sale barn.
After five weeks of renovations, MorningStar opened Tuesday morning for breakfast and lunch.
“There’s been a steady crowd all morning,” Castor said Tuesday.
For now, hours of operation at the new location will expand from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, she said.
The food hasn’t changed, it’s just a new place Castor added. Lunch items have been added to their menu including burgers, sandwiches and appetizers, among other items.
“My new motto is ‘Come often, Eat often,’” she said.
Castor’s plan is to keep five employees throughout the day.
“We had some kinks to work out but we’re just plugging along,” she said.
