Local students compete well at national FFA

Imperial FFA had two teams and one individual compete at the 91st annual National FFA Convention last week.
Market Plan team members Valerie Herbert, Brooklyn Christensen and Alexis Richmond ended up making it to the semi-finals, receiving a silver ranking.
“The Marketing Plan team was a go down there and make final stage or bust kind of a deal,” FFA Advisor Jeremy Vlasin said. While the marketing plan team competed well, they still wish they could have made the top four, he said.
Vlasin found out Monday that the team’s written plan placed 10th in the nation.
“They’re rated on the presentation and the ability to answer questions and then rated on their written plan, as well,” he said.
The Vet Science team, coached by Gene and Tracy Heathers, consisted of Emma DeGrasse, Carissa Hill, Jozie Schilke and Megan Baird. There was one round, consisting of a team activity, practicums and an individual test.
