Local radio station named latest Chamber Business of the Month
June’s Chamber Business of the Month is 102.9 JACK FM.
The radio station in Imperial debuted as 102.9 KADL on Aug. 28, 2003.
The station, located at 824 Douglas St., was originally owned by Dave and Connie Stout of McCook and McCook Radio Group.
Before KADL’s debut, Dave Stout said the priority of the station was going to be Longhorn sports.
“We know how important sports are in Nebraska and the area,” he said back in 2003.
When the station first aired, the music was a mix of “oldies.”
The format now is “playing what we want.” It is a variety of music from the 80s, 90s and 2000s spanning multiple genres.
In 2007, the station was purchased by Armada Media in McCook, which still owns it today. The station also features programming from the ABC Radio Network.
One of the original hires is still with the station today.
Sue Moore was hired as a sales/administration employee. She is also a co-host of the KADL Call, along with Marc Maelzer of Holyoke, Colorado. Maelzer is also the western stations manager for McCook Radio Group.
“I’ve been here since Day 1,” Moore said. “I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Moore also does sales for the radio station, and also lends her voice to some ads that are aired.
JACK FM continues to broadcast Longhorn sports.
Recently, Longhorn fans Carl Zuege and Matt Jablonski started announcing for Longhorn sports, including basketball and football.
