It’s a great day for fishing!
The weather cooperated for the IKES’ annual fishing day at Champion Saturday. Organizer Tom Elder of Imperial said 41 youths received prizes, but there were some older kids and parents who fished as well. “We also fed more than 100 people,” Elder said. Violet Sparrow of Wauneta and Max Bernard of Imperial won the lifetime hunting and fishing permits, sponsored by the Logan Bauman Foundation and Nebraska Game and Parks. Kids fished along the east shore of Champion Lake. Tomas Maddux’s carp almost got away while 8-year-old Micah Bley shows off his catch. (Johnson Publication photos)
