FFA has good district showings in recent contests
Several Imperial FFA teams and individuals are already making plans for state after finishing at and near the top at district contests held in November and December.
On Nov. 8, Imperial teams competed in livestock judging, agriscience and natural resources contests in Curtis. Twenty-three Imperial FFA members traveled to those contests, said Advisor Jeremy Vlasin.
Those were followed up with District Leadership Development (LDE) competitions Dec. 13, also in Curtis at which 18 FFA members competed. Vlasin said of Imperial’s competitors finished in the top third.
He said LDEs are events providing FFA members with experience in the practice of influencing others through speaking and parliamentary procedure competitions.
From both, Imperial FFA emerged with four district championship teams (including junior high), as well as an individual champion. Several other teams and a second place individual also qualified.
