Chase County Transit offering free rides, special deals next week

    Gov. Pete Ricketts has proclaimed next week, April 8-14, as Nebraska Public Transit Week in the state.
    In the Imperial area, Chase County Transit will be having several events to celebrate the special week, including:
    Monday, April 9—“Stuff the Bus,” one ride free for one canned good to be donated to the Chase County Pantry.
    Tuesday, April 10—“Buddy Day,” two passengers for the price of one.
    Wednesday, April 11—Driver Appreciation Day. Meet the drivers at the Imperial Community Center for coffee and cookies from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Drawings for door prizes.
    Thursday, April 12—Free rides all day.
    According to the Nebraska Dept. of Transportation, public transit in the state had more than 6.5 million riders in 2017, traveling more than 10 million miles combined.
