Chase County junior raises Golden Retrievers for SAE

■ Editor’s note: The Imperial Republican will continue to showcase some of the Imperial FFA chapter’s supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs) in the coming weeks.

Despite no in-person school, Imperial FFA member Lindsey Mendenhall is staying busy with her supervised agricultural experience (SAE).
Mendenhall, a junior at Chase County Schools (CCS), is raising AKC registered Golden Retriever puppies.
“I got started when I got my female puppy, Nala, in 2018,” Mendenhall said.
She found a male to breed with Nala, and seven puppies were born last fall.
“Before I sold the puppies, I talked to the potential owners so that they know what getting a puppy would be like and to make sure they would be a good fit,” she added.
Mendenhall sold six of the puppies and kept one, whom her brother named Rex.
“With my love for animals and showing my first Golden Retriever, Buster, in 4-H, I decided I wanted to raise and sell Golden Retriever puppies,” she said.
Mendenhall competes in the 4-H dog show at the Chase County Fair.
She is planning and getting ready for Nala’s second litter that she hopes will be coming next spring.
Mendenhall is an active member of the Imperial FFA chapter and is a member of last year’s national champion parliamentary procedure team.
