In a six-game sweep, the Imperial girls’ seventh grade basketball team won its division at last weekend’s youth tournament in Ogallala. On Saturday, Imperial defeated Hyannis 21-16, the North Platte Rebels 17-10 and Ogallala 28-16. On Sunday, Imperial went in as the #2 seed and first defeated seventh seed Perkins County, 18-2. They met Ogallala next, defeating them a second time, 24-18. That advanced Imperial to the finals, where they met North Platte Rebels again, who had earlier knocked off the #1 seed from Gering. Imperial claimed the championship with a 33-21 victory. Lady Longhorns head to subdistricts as top seed

   The official bracket won’t be posted online until today (Thursday), but the Chase County girls are assured the top seed in next week’s C1-11 subdistrict basketball tournament in North Platte.

Longhorns second to Oberlin at Southwest Tourney

   In the last meet before districts in Valentine, Chase County traveled to Bartley Saturday for the Southwest Tournament.
