Proud to say I love America

Count me with those who are extremely proud of our country.

I don’t know if it’s all political theater or are the true feelings of our fellow Americans, but there was a lot of coverage about a recent Gallup poll that shows fewer than two-thirds of American adults say they are “very” or “extremely” proud of their country. Reportedly, that’s the lowest percentage tallied since the poll with that question began more than 20 years ago.
Just 38% say they are in the “extremely” proud category. They didn’t poll me, but you can put me in that 38% group.
I think the pollsters needed to phrase the question better, but a lot of polls are banking on the outcome they want. Why not ask people the same question—how do you feel about your country: extremely proud, very proud, not proud, but add “right now?”
When poll respondents look at gas prices, food prices, prices for everything, crime in bigger cities and the border situation now, people do not feel good about their life situation in a lot of cases. However, I bet most still love their country. They’re just being asked during a tough time.
This country has been through rough times before, and we always survive.  It’s tough, though, when the paycheck isn’t going nearly as far as before. However, just like with family, some days are good, some days are not. But, you still love them, don’t you? We need to have that same mindset about our country, despite what’s happening right now.
It will get better, and November’s mid-terms may be that starting point.
